Experimenting with many media over the years, Lynn has devoted her work to the time honoured tradition of stained and leaded glass. Working closely with the client, Lynn translates ideas into uniquely personalized pieces of art that illuminate architectural spaces. Inspired by nature and artists past and present, her bending and blending of colour and light elevates the spirit. The predominant aspect of Lynn’s work is influenced by her study of the Arts and Crafts Movement. Currently, there is particular emphasis in the eras of Art Deco and Art Nouveau. Using a variety of methods including fusing, gold leafing, etching, sandblasting carving, painting, layering, and leading, Lynn integrates the various elements of such artists as Morris, Mackintosh, Gaudi, Guimard, and Klimt in an attempt to capture both the quality of their work and understand the influences that resulted in their masterpieces. Lynn creates original abstractions drawing from the essence of these rich and varied traditions. Born in Kenya, Lynn obtained a Masters of Environmental Studies from York University in Toronto. After working in that field for a number of years, she realized her passion for art. Lynn worked in several stained glass studios before she established her own stained glass her studio to Guelph in 2000. The business has steadily grown and she has gained extensive experience in glass design and creation for commercial, private and public settings, including residential commissions internationally. Most recent commissions include The Hospice of Windsor and Essex County, Loon in a Balloon Publishing, Waterloo, ON, Sorbara Law, Guelph, ON, Women’s College Hospital, Toronto and Dublin Street United Church, Guelph, ON. |
